      newbie with big plans

hey guys im jay and im new to the forum here. im 18 and im currently attending WyoTech for collision i will also be taking hi-po, street rod. chassis fab and upholstery. iv been working on cars since i could walk and love pro touring cars and have recently been trying to do a bunch of research on different suspensions and tuning and suspension geometry and trying to design(in my head and on paper) my own frames and suspension setups for a few of my cars. i own a 70 torino fastback, 71 torino coupe, 85 mustang, 77 ford f250 dually, 76 f100 and a 49 chevy pickup that was my grandfathers( and yeah theyre all mine, theyre just not all nice haha) i want to build my 71 coupe into a protouring car. i plan on bringing it to school when i get to chassis fab and hopefully doing a front ifs conversion that will get ride of the shock towers and give me a rack with tubular upper and lower control arms and coil overs. i also want to get rid of the leafs in the back and do a torque arm and watts link in the rear. i thought i would run the idea by you guys and see what you thought and maybe have you all point me in the right direction, and have some good reads to help me further my research. any and all input is greatly appreciated.
here is the car im speaking of, its the kind of white colored one the LTD is my DD right now but technically its my dads car haha

Jay Leno did a video of a 66 Ford Galaxie 500 that he built which you might find interesting.

Welcome Jay, Ive been messing around with cars for 30 years now and just recently re-discovered my favorite part is DRIVING them. I highly recommend getting out to a Goodguys Autocross or "Run to the" event and that will dictate if you want to build a particular car for competitive events. I also recommend having a car thats ALWAYS ready to drive (maybe the 85 Mustang?). That way when your building one you dont miss cool events. Enjoy!
