The Recaros sit lower than the factory seats as it was, plus now I lowered the brackets so it looks like I'll be sitting a few inches lower in the car. Im lovin the way the seats are working out so far!

Makes me wish I still had both of the G-bodies I've had in the past.

I drove like 4 hours to get these because they are hard to find in good condition with good foam. I really wanted this seat for the car because they look good and have nice bolsters, but mainly they are from the rite era. I didn't want a seat that was too modern or crazy looking.
Those are always a good find. I have a pair ready for my Cutlass. My other project is a 16v Jetta, I've been a VW guy since 18yo. Those were stock in the 16v GTI's and Jetta's until 1992. I paid $275 for mine knowing I would have them recovered. One of the best guys in the business is no longer recovering seats unfortunately. I did get a pair of his outer covers when he closed out his covers, I'll get the center sections done locally.

My other project that needs a respray

Here are some Recaros by Ron at JJ Custom, wish he was still in business.

Nice idea and work with the Recaro fitting and details! I bought a set of third gen Recaros (the LX instead of LS style) complete with seat tracks that I am eventually planning to adapt to my car. Gotta refoam and recover them, so it won't be an easy project, as usual. They finally started making foam for the LX seats reproduction. Seat covers will have to be custom...

Csouth, Ron at JJ custom interiors would have been my first choice for my upholstery work before his reputation went south. He did some really nice seats.

83Hurstguy, If you know where I could get replacement foam for these LS-B I have, I would be interested in replacing at least one side bolster.

I'm with you on that. My saving grace would have been a guy from the local MI VW forum that moved to Seattle and told me he would be happy to drive by his place if I every need him. I got a set of black jackets from him for $200 when he closed out. I didnt want to ship my seats half way across the country, so I decided to buy the jackets and will have them installed locally. They guy I'm having do the covers has done work for Mark Stielow and Kyle and Stacy on their first '69 Camaro.

Here's a pic of the rear seat after I tubbed the wheel wells. It's a few inches away from the rear deck because the new wheel wells are in the way.

I took the rear seat apart and re-worked the cage to fit the new tubs. Once I had the cage fitted, I took it to a local upholstery shop and had them make my original foam fit the cage and wrap everything in the original upholstery.

Here's the rear seat installed. Still fully functional and looks 100% stock. This was a part of the project I was really worried about in the beginning but it actually wasn't bad at all. It was almost fun!

You may want to contact these guys in England... it's unfortunate they are overseas but seem to be the leading Recaro parts supplier from what research I had done a while ago, including new foam: http://www.capitalseating.co.uk/

I don't think the picture is correct in one of the ads, pretty sure it's all Recaro LX-style foam with the straight side bolsters. I haven't ordered any yet.
