Rear Coil over compatibility Question: RideTech vs. Strange

I'm hoping someone can help me out with the specs for ridetech's rear coilovers used in the 67-69 ridetech 4 link (airbar) setup. I can't find them anywhere. I came across a set of Strange S5005 coil overs at a really good price and was considering picking them up, but without knowing if they will work, I do not want to take the chance.

The Ridetech part numbers are: 11166510 and 11166509

Any input on using the Strange S5005 or specs on the RideTechs would be greatly appreciated

      Specs on the Strange S5005:
      Extended length: 15.4"
      Collapsed length without bumper: 10.76"
      Recommended ride height: 12.65 - 13.25"
      Stroke: 4.64"
      Suggested Spring Length: 12"
      External adjustment type: Double

Per ridetech specs from their website for the rear airbar, which I have installed on my car with their coilovers...stroke-5.2" compressed height-11.225" extended height-16.425" spring-12". I installed mine at 14.75" ride height per ridetech's recommendations.

The rear lower mount is adjustable so you could theroretically use those Strange units, but you'll give up a bit of suspension travel.

Do you have coil overs now?

Bret is correct, you will lose a little stroke. . .what Bret didn't mention was the quality you may loose going to a twin tube when you could use the our monotube.
Unless the Strange units are nearly free (which would make one wonder why someone is "giving" them away) you'll likely spend more money buying multiple sets of coil overs. Since we now have the 1,000,001 mile warranty the ridetech units should be the last shocks you purchase for that car.

Thanks for the info all, that helps out. Britt, no, I do not have coil-overs now. The car is still under construction. I budgeted for the 4 link from you guys and was going to go with the setup listed at $550.00 on your website for the coilovers. I ran across the Strange units for $400, but I would need to get coils to go with them. Since they listed at 659.99, I figured it might be a good way to go while staying in the $550 range on this.

So, you're wanting to stay in the window of $550? The ridetech's are $550 and have a MILLION mile warranty, you say? What the? Get the ridetech's already, Joe!

Yea, that's what I'm going to end up doing, lol. The Strange Coil-overs looked like a deal, but I don't think I want to mess with figuring it out since the RideTech's are matched to my application. The Strange coil-overs are sitting on Summit's open box/clearance rack (Sparks, NV) if anyone has a need for them. They are marked $400, down from $659.99

Thanks again for all the help, I'll be ordering the RideTech setup really soon.

buy the ridetechs, if not for any other reason, they were kind enough to jump on the forum and help you, (great service) I didnt see a strange rep or summit rep, jumping on here giving you any service, advice or help, that srvice and advice to help you is worth WAY!! more than 150.00 bucks saved.........just my 2 cents

It never hurts to try and save a buck. Always look at the cost in the long run.

I am currently having issues with my QA1's. I think I am going to spend around $200+ on repairs at Naake's in Roseville,CA. A post-installation warranty is something that isn't even mentioned in the same breath with aftermarket shocks. When I saw that ridetech now has a 1000001 mile warranty I decided to plan them into my budget. Hopefully I won't have to sink anymore $$ into the Q's before I allocate the $1300 for the ridetech TQ's. Prior to the warranty I was planning on going over to Bilstein and see what they had for me since they are right in my backyard here in San Diego. I'll still give Bilstein a look but if everything is the same with the hardware the warranty will sway me over to Ridetech.

I agree, and that's one of the reasons I will be going with the ridetech setup

Cost is definitely a factor in my build, I do want to get it on the road one of these years. The warranty is a great feature, it's nice to know that there are still companies who stand behind their product with that much confidence.

ridetech's warranty is pretty much unheard of in today's market. Lets you know that they are serious about their quality & customer service. They are one of those companies you love to do business with because of the excellent products & customer/dealer support.
