      Cutting trunk

Thanks Brian, Your GTO is getting there too, let me know how it goes when you get to matching the front top of the quarters. Look at my post #320
Wayne the paint is not perfect and the bugs that are stuck in it will be there a while, but thanks.

      Starting the Fuel Cell install.
It is strange that I cared after all the other metal work I have done to the car, but it was a sad moment cutting out the nice original trunk floor that survived all those years without any rust.

      Fuel Cell Work

Few shots of the Fuel Cell install in progress.
Welded the 16 Gage steel box that I made into the trunk, then built the square tube cage.

I have never trusted rivnuts for heavy duty jobs so I welded some 3/8-24 nuts under the top tube for the two top cross bars.

Now I might need some help from everyone picking components for running the fuel line next.
Bought a roll of 3/8" NiCopp that I was thinking on covering with a high temp polyester sleeve to insulate and protect.
Then I plan to run -8 Aeroquip PTFE SS braided from cell to 10Micron Filter (mounted inside frame above axle)
Hardline mounted to top inside of passenger side chassis with cushion clamps, stopping at fire wall next to inner body mount
More -8 Aeroquip to Fuel Rails,
      Y block to Regulator
Then return line using the same 3/8" NiCopp but with -6 hose Thanks in advance for any thoughts

      Fuel Line Schematic

Looking for feedback on my proposed fuel line setup,
-8 feed line using the Aeroquip PTFE into 3/8 NiCopp hardline on chassis
(most of my friends with serious drag cars run -10 and I believe that -6 would work fine but I just don't want to listen to their comments)
-6 return line from the motor
Plan on going with an in tank pump either Bosch 0 580 254 044 or Walbro 255

Would love to hear thoughts on favorite brands and good sources from those that have more experience than me
I have been reading lots of posts on the forum and appreciate all the great tips and info that is out there!

Cool link if you don't want to build your own lines.

      More Paint

Finished painting SEM Rust Shield in trunk and bottom of car, my last coat I didn't use as much reducer and I sprayed from further away so that it would go on with a texture.
Wanted some contrast between gloss black on chassis. Getting ready to remove suspension so I can spray chassis again to fix some issues I had last time, plus the guys at the frame shop were not very nice to it.

      Chassis Paint

      Thanks Nick!

      Happy New Year!

So nice to have the hoist to get the frame on the rotisserie.
Sanded entire frame again with 320, I'm getting good at this.

Used more slow reducer with the SEM Rust Shield, helped it lay out smoother this time.

Suspension all ready to go, all the bare aluminum and gold zinc bolts polished up and protected with Shark Hyde. Everything had started to corrode from the ride on the flatbed last winter, the salt spray on the highway must have got on everything.

All the aluminum and hardware on the rear end looks great, I treated it with the Shark Hyde last year before it went out to the frame shop and its holding up nice.

      Eric,

Awesome progress! For your supply line question... have you thought about 1/2" aluminum tubing? As compared to stainless steel, it's super bendable. I have 3/8" stainless, and it was a pain in the ass to bend and especially flaring the ends. Of course, after I was done, a new GTO friend of mine showed me what he did... 1/2" aluminum is going on the next car.

      Keep it up!
      Mike

      Fuel lines

Hi Mike thanks! Yeah I think I am just going to run -6 feed and return along with the 3/8" Nicopp hardline for both since the majority of people say that it will work fine.
If I ever want to go crazy with more power I can upgrade the lines later.

Not much to report, been busy working. Started gathering hardware and materials, hope to get lines finished soon.

      Fuel Lines

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been trying to get things done with a broken thumb and having a tough time. I know its not the best excuse but it really is hard to stay productive!
Was able to finish the brake and fuel lines finally. Just need to measure up and order front and rear caliper hoses and axle drop hose.

      Kore3 lines

Luckily the thumb doesn't stop me from ordering parts! Called the Roadster Shop to double check my measurements on Caliper hose, I figure they have done it a few more times than I have. Very cool and supportive guys at the Roadster Shop, its nice to have them in my corner cheering me on, sometimes it feels like the world is against you on these long builds.
Then based on everyones good experience with the guys at Kore3 I got in touch with Tobin. Placed the order then had the lines in my hands a couple days later. Nice guys and nice parts too!

      LQ9 assembly

Making progress on the engine rebuild, cleaned and measured clearances on crank, everything looked good so crank is in.

Was checking out the new Mast oil pan, but I might be able to run a GM F-body oil pan with my 4" setback, would give me good ground clearance since they are the shallowest I have found at 5.63" (before going custom)
      http://www.mastmotorsports.com/view.php?id=160&c=49&s=7

Just picked up some new Engine Pro trunnion bushings, they just came out with them and the distributor said they are not in the catalogues yet. I ordered them through my local machine shop. I like the idea of keeping little needle bearings out of the engine.
The trunnion kit is part # 07-13702-16

      Engine work

More progress on the engine in between work.
Got the file to fit rings done, new custom grind Texas Speed cam is in and got the rods back from machinist.
Had them hone the rods and fit the new wrist pins with a .0003 to .0005" slip fit between the rod bushing and wrist pin.

Thanks! Hey I'm in the market for a flywheel and clutch setup, any spring cleaning half price deals?!

Slowly getting there, forgot to post new Texas Speed cam specs.
