      Whats the deal here?

Just noticed something odd on Kerr's '68. Maybe it's a wierd photo, but dosen't it kinda look like the wheels are a little wide for the tire. It almost looks like the bead is outside the tread w/o the usual bit of convex shape to the sidewall.

Or is this intentional? If so, for what reason?

      DamnTrue,

(wish you had a real name ...) Anyway, it shows how well tuned Kerr's Camaro is for road racing. A wider wheel promotes a better contact patch because it helps to keep the tire from shifting sideways on the wheel during lateral maneuvers.

My 17x13's look like they are too wide for my 335's too. Some tires like Michelins have what is called a rim protector that hides the gap.
My Kumhos don't have this feature.

It also helps with clearance as a 68 has a shallow outer w/o.

I remember the wheel and tire specs for Chris' car. 17x13 in the rear with a 315 and 17x11 in the front with a 275. That's about 2" wider than most people go for those respective sizes.
