      The Train has pulled into the station

      Rushforth Night Train that is.



      Jason was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He went the extra mile to make sure that I was completely satisfied with my purchase. The quality, fit and finish of these wheels are top notch and worth the wait time required to have them custom built.

      The wheel specs are:

      Front - 18x8 w/ 4 7/8" BS
      Rear - 19x10 w/ 5" BS

      Here are several shots of them installed on my almost completed project. The brakes peeking out from behind the wheels are Tobin's (Kore3) C6 Z06 brake kits with the Grand Sport Caliper options (natural finished vs. Red calipers). Another great person to deal with!

      nice rims and car! Tell me, what size are your tires? And did you measure the lip on your rear rim?

      Hey, I spent a lot of time polishing those tips up :o). j/k.

      Actually, the whole look of the car has changed a lot in the last year. Those tips are one of the last hold outs. Looking at doing something different this Winter. Any suggestions from the crowd? Perhaps just doing a simple dump right off the mufflers?

      Thank you Sir!

      Tires are:
      245/40 18
      275/35 19

      Could have possibly gotten away with 285s in the rear (not mini tubbed), but didn't want to chance any clearance issues.

      The lip is just shy of 3.5". Pretty deep IMO given that the required pad spacing to clear the 4 piston C6 Z06 calipers are 1.44". I suspect that the lip could be 4" plus on a brake setup with less overhang.

      I'd trim that pipe right above the 90 degree bend past the tip, put a dump it at and angle out the side, you put a another style tip on it too. The trick is to have minimal exposed... although that car is so nice you could have the old Pantera exhaust that comes out about 3 feet at 45 degrees up in the air for all I care! ;-)

      I had some folks PM me asking about the powerplant, interior and body panels.

      The engine is a 383 with a host of goodies. Mainly Dart Pro 1 heads, Comp cam bits, Billet specialties Tru Trac, (which took some machining/engineering for it to work with the blower), 142 supercharger w/ Powerjection III fuel injection. The list goes on.....

      Being up here in VA, we are due to get quite a bit of rain and wind next week caused by Hurricane Sandy. Won't be driving her much so I'm using it as a good excuse to install the Hydratech hydroboost setup that has been sitting on my shelf for the last several months. This will clean up the brake lines a bit.

      Here are some shots of the interior. No real custom pieces (not in the budget), just a mix of parts that I thought would go well together. New interior for all intents and purposes. The whole cabin was lined with Dynamat as well. The head unit is one of Pioneer's App radio models. Really a cool head unit with a lot of features when paired with an iPhone.

      The header panel, hood, cowl, trunk lid, and spoiler are carbon fiber pieces from Anvil. My intention is to shoot the pieces Lemans blue and leave a center stripe down the middle of carbon. But this look is growing on me. We will see....

      I have learned so much from this site and am very thankful that a community such as this is available for people to share their passion/interests.

      I was planning on doing the same thing when I get my car painted, but in the mean time I was considering getting a vinyl wrap made that would do the same thing. Just not sure where to look to find one.

      Are the wheels 10'' wide in the rear with 8'' in front? I'm new to this and thinking about pulling off that sort of dished look on one of my cars.

      I need help. By my screwy math a 10'' width wheel would provide at most 5 dish in the rear and 4'' dish up front with 8'' wide wheels (assuming the face of the spokes are flat). Your car appears to have a significant difference in dish between the fronts and rears. My math only allows for a difference of 1'' in dish assuming the fronts are 8s and the rears are 10s and running "ideal" non PT offsets, whatever those are.

      Are the rears positive offset with negative offset fronts?

      How was this achieved? Care to share your back spacing/offset?

      EDIT: BTW, nice job with the matte blacked 383 badge.

      Thank you for the compliments.

      The "secret sauce" to getting the right combination for how you would like your wheels to look really depends on the wheel manufacturer and the specs for your application. If going the custom route, the manufacturer will be able to tell you exactly what size the lip will be given the dimensions that you provide.

      For example. Here are the specs for my 1969 that I provided to Jason Rushforth after measuring and re-measuring.

      Fronts are typical specs that fit most 1969 Camaros:

      18x8 rims with 4 7/8" back spacing and at least 1.8" pad spacing (the required spacing between spokes and caliper)

      Rears are:

      19x10 rims with 5" back spacing and 1.5" pad spacing.

      My specs for the rear resulted in a approx 3.5" lip on the Rushforth Night Train. Another model or manufacturer may not be the same. From my experience, even with the same specs, lip sizes can vary greatly from wheel to wheel given design in spokes, hoop, etc. Throw in unique requirements like clearance required to accommodate large 6-piston calipers, things can get very complex to try to figure out on one's own.

      My humble recommendation is to contact any one of the sponsors here and talk to them about your specific application. They will be able to tell you exactly what the final product will look like.
