      I have a 245/45/17 on a 8" rim with 5.25 backspace.
It fits inside the fender / fender well / frame very good.
My set up does not rub on the road at all.
I also run -1 deg camber as well. This helps to keep the tire away from the top of the fender edge.

With the right parts you can run a 275.

I have DSE: UCA, LCA, 2" Drop Coil Springs, Koni Shocks, 2" Drop Leafs & 1-1/8" block in rear.
I actually have a 3/8" coil spacer to get the car back up a little in the front.
My drivers side header is about 2-3/4" off the ground. Frame is at least about 4-1/2" off the ground.
I am looking to do a motor swap soon, and will be looking for a tighter fitting header to the body.

      Absolutely!!
I put some on my wheels and they were a little to close to the outside lip. If i went to a 9" wide & changed the BS, this would definately work.

I will run 255s on the rear when my KDWs wear out.

I am currently mocking up a 245/45-17 mounted on a 17x8" 4 7/8" backspace wheel on my '71. I do have a Wilwood brake setup that pushes the wheel out some small amount as I understand it. I haven't gotten back to it yet to run the wheel through the range of travel but just from eye-balling it I think it's going to be extremely close to getting into the fender when the wheels turn. I'm hoping I'll have some time to work on it this weekend. However with a newborn that time is hard to come by .

Randy, do you have any pictures that show how far your wheel sits in from the fender edge?

      Thanks,
      John
