      Body work is finished

Dang, it's about time. I finally finished up the body work on my Firebird over the weekend.

Started off with a bit of a setback though. On the passenger side 1/4 panel I decided I would try a 3m panel bonding adhesive after having quite a bit of warping issues after welding the drivers side 1/4. Well come to find out the mixing tube for the adhessive didn't do a very good job of mixing the adhesive with the activator. Except for the top of the 1/4 panel all the bond did was get sticky. I had to spend a couple hours cleaning all the goo off the body and resetting the 1/4 panel. I broke open the tube amd made sure the ratios were correct and rebonded the panel.

After that my father and I got to work on the driver side fender. This fender was in very bad shape. not only had it been hit at one point but the lower left corner had a hole about the size of a softball from corrosion. It took most of the day Sunday but we fitted and welded in a new patch panel for the fender. Unfortunately we ran out of sanding discs so I've still got to finish smoothing the welds. Otherwise the fender came out pretty well.

That fortunately completes the body work on the car. I'll be prepping the underside of the hood and inside of the fenders this week. We'll spray black in those areas friday evening and those should be ready to be hung on the car by Sunday.

I'll be sure to get pics at this point with the car's metal fully assembled.

Now it's time for paint prep!:rolleyes5
