      3rd link mounting

I have a 12 bolt and I'm considering fabricating a 3 link. Most 3 links I see have a front loaded gearset like the Ford 9", and the 3rd link bracket is welded to the sheet metal rear skin. I can't recall seeing a bracket for a center mounted 3rd link with rear mounted gears, with the rear cover plate stamped from thin steel and held in by small screws. Not particularly confidence inspiring.

Anyonehave any images of 3rd link brackets in rear loaded axles you could post for ideas?

OEM Mustang 3 link. Upper link is fabbed to the top of the center section.

I mounted the third link on my Camaro offset so it is on the tube, is working pretty good.

Here is a shot of the rear axle out of the car.

Why not just make a 4-link. The additional unsprung weight will be negligible and it will be infinitely easier to make a supportive chassis side UCA mount. Oh and just one more thing; people talk about 3-links and how they have the least amount of bind, but this is a PT car with limited travel so I truly don't believe that this would be an issue.
Just look at the quadra-link. Steilow has been kicking ass with that thing for years.

      My ideas

Still a work in progress going to either increase the studs in the rear support to 3/8 or fab a plate to go between the housing and cover similar to how BMR mounts their torque arm to a 12 bolt.

I have also considered fabing up a heavy gauge rear cover similar to how the 4x4 guys do Like

Where I haven't found anyone that makes one for a car 12 bolt.

      Thanks for the input, guys.

Think I'll look at building a thick rear cover plate and weld the top link bracket to it. Probably need to increase the screw thread size from M6 to M8.

Jeremy- no large surface area flanges to to screw through. Probably should have started with a different rearend.

An abody diff would have been good to do that to.
