      heater lines on a LS3

      Just wondering what i could do here to have these lines go in at a 45 instead of straight, like this they are hitting the upper A arm, can you remove the fittings and thread for pipe thread and screw in fittings? What have you guys done?

      Rick,

      Fitting pipe threads is a snap. Use big pliers to twist the OEM fittings out, and will you find them perfectly sized for pipe thread. You just need the taps. 3/8" and 1/2", if memory serves.

      Or use these hoses-
      GATES 28472 (5/8" X 4" X 48")
      GATES 28480 (3/4" X 4" X 48")

      Worked out nicely on my car!

      These are long enough if your running VA & want to hide the lines in the fender you can!

      I am moderately confused by this approach. I guess it is less than 4" from the water pump to the upper a-arm, so this molded hose will let you turn before you hit it? I like the idea and I want to run the hoses under the fender for my app as well but with the smoothed firewall, I'm going to need to be able to get through the fresh air opening, through the fresh air vent, and to the evaporator under the dash--do you know if the 48" long portion is long enough to do that?

      Also, Rick, what is the catch-can-looking thing in your picture? Is that an oil breather or is it a coolant overflow, or...? I see the connection going in the top but are there other connections as well? Also, whose bracket is that holding it and is it bolted to the head? Thanks.

      Not to get off topic, but why the shims in the upper control arms? Arn't they the SPC uppers that are adjustable through the threaded sleeves? Just curious because I have the same arms and am getting ready to have it aligned.

      About the shims!

      When I had the global west upper A arms I had almost the same thickness of shims to achieve the desired 2deg camber, when I installed the SPC arms I made these spacers to make them all the same thickness and a base line, we then adjusted from there.

      - trim a couple inches off the 4" side to your liking! The hose makes it around thru the fender nicely to the firewall- then u will need a bulkhead connector or if you want to run continuous piece you will need a hose connector- not recommended... I believe there are some pics on my build thread?
