I have a few updates to share. Slowly but surely I'm making progress...

Since there aren't any decent two post radios, I cut my dash for a single DIN head unit. It goes good with the Vintage Air control panel and powder coated ash try door.

I made a panel to mount the ridetech AMK compressor and valve body. I welded the panel to the upper shock crossmember so the components can hang below out of site but are still easy to access.

I got the inner rocker panel and pillar bottoms in.

Before I put the rocker on, I want to replace the rear cab corner but the replacement corner is way off. I guess I'll have to cut it in two and remove the excess and put it back together. Unless there's a trick to this that I don't know about.

Even though the floor pan looks bad, it's actually pretty solid with some small holes. So instead of opening yet another can of worms, I decided to POR-15 it and add some of their mesh to help strengthen it. The final goal will be to have the entire floor pan Linex'd.

Finally, one of ridetech's very talented employees pulled the dent out of the passenger fender.

Yeah I had the same problem when I welded up my buddies 61 Apache, you have to get creative.

Probably not. It might end up being a primer spot along with the rockers and cab corners.

looks like it's coming along well. Any plans to bring it south this year to any events?

This would be hard to describe in typed form, but with the cab corner: Tack it in place after getting the curved area to fit, then use a cutoff wheel to cut down the line of the door jamb. Then take the piece that you cut down which would be a right angle piece and flip it over and weld it in as the continuation of the door jamb. Then trim it up. Or, if the metal in the jamb itself is in good shape, just trim it to fit and butt weld it.

I hope that makes sense. There may be a better way to do it, but that would be the way I would be tempted to do it.

Thanks! As for events, if I don't have the El Camino and/or Chevelle back together, the '63 may be my only choice...

I think I understand what you're saying. I hope to get the corner on and the rocker at least started, possibly on, this weekend so I'll let you know how it goes.

when I was a kid, I had put money down on a 63 fleetside. Came back a day later to pick it up and pay the balance, guy sold it out from under me. I did get my money back, but always regretted not having that truck. If you come south, I'll be there to check it out in person

Progress on the truck has been pretty slow lately, mostly because I've been caught up in a side project...

Yesterday and today I actually worked on the truck. The rockers aren't done yet, but I had to do something that could be accomplished in a weekend... so I removed the rusted and busted core support...

and in it's place I installed this very trick core support and radiator from AutoRad! The only down side is once all the body parts are back in place, not much of it will be visible.

Maybe now I'll be motivated to get the rockers done!

Thanks! The question is which one will be done first?
