      Under-dash Ignition Coil: Pros/Cons?

I have an MSD HVC ignition coil, rather bulky. So, I'm thinking about mounting it under the dash next to my ignition box for a cleaner engine bay. I'll utilize a feed-thru connector on the coil wire to pass through the firewall. Are there any pit falls to this setup? exploding coil? impromptu lightening show?

      Thanks

A coil can get hot own its own, so an under dash install will provide no air movement to help cool it. It will also be a heat source behind the dash adding to higher cabin temperatures in the summer months. Also, it will cause EMI interferences with other electronics in the cabin. I understand trying to keep the engine bay clean, but a coil is part of an engine, so keep it where it belongs.

I have my MSD coil and 6AL ignition box mounted under the dash. I use one of the coil pass throughs that MSD makes. No problems at all. Never gets hot and doesnt cause any electronic interference.

Me too, I have it right next to the VFD fan controller and aux fuse panel, maybe a foot from the stereo and it works great.
