      fuel pump question, i think

I have an 88 Monte Carlo as, just recently purchased and still becoming acquainted with his vehicle. When I start it after its been sitting for a day or so, it will cut out unless I give it a little gas for about 5 minutes. After driving for a few minutes it will be fine. Is it possible this is a fuel pump issue?

Sounds like a choke function issue.

Would this be something a novice like myself can fix or should I take it to a pro?

Read up on it first before you go adjusting stuff that you may not be familiar with. Forims like this are your best friend, ask questions, even if you think they are stupid. Remember all of us did not start off as experts in any particular field.
