wheels first?

hi just starting my rs covertible project and always see projects with brand new wheels and tires already on them ..kinda wanted to buy them last or is it best to build the car around them?..

Its better to have an idea of the direction you want to take with the project, and pick the wheels accordingly.

-restored look car with maybe some TT2s or Rallye wheels, etc...
-performance look with some 3-piece racing wheels with rivets
-roadster/show look with some bling-tastic big chrome rollers
-drag car look with some pro-stars or draglites, etc..

wheels define the attitude of your car. Pick them carefully, based on your final goals for the car.

You definitely dont want to buy them before you have decided what suspension set-up you want to use. Especially if you do some type of brake conversion. But of course once you add big brakes, you will need those big wheels to roll it around on! That is probably why you see so many projects that way. I wish I had some crap 17" wheels for rolling and keep the nice wheels for the finished prduct.

yeah i understand what you mean..thanks..im going for the pro touring theme..wanting 17 inch wheels..and baer brakes..and all the other goodies that go along..thanks for the help ,,, this forum is awesome for ideas..
