      Boxing frame.

Have done a bunch of searches on here but maybe doing it wrong or wring terms. Any good links on boxing frames? I figure I will just go street rod style cause thats what I know. I have a 69 ford f-100 Has an 04 crown vic front suspension, 9" rear on leaf springs sways front and rear. I have to c notch the frame in the rear for travel. I'm thinking of drilling the boxing plates and dimple dieing them more for looks than anything else. I've thought about replacing crosmembers with tube type and maybe adding a few more to stiffen things up. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated thanks.

I can tell you what we recommend here at the school. Cut the boxing plates so they will just slip INSIDE the edges of the rails. Use small pieces of scrap welded flush with the inside edges of the frame to set the boxing plates against. This will give you a nice open root corner weld that can be metal finished (reasonably) without harming the structural integrity of the weld.

Make sure you clean the inside of the frame webs back about an inch from the edge, and straighten any bent areas out first. How are you planning on running brake and fuel lines, wiring, etc.?

Thanks that's how I planned to box the frame with putting the plates inside from the edge. I had not thought of using the scrap to set the boxing plate up, that is a great tip and will save a bunch of tack measure tack repeat thanks.

I had two thoughts on running fuel lines I was either going to run them inside the boxing plates go with a flexible braided line just go in one of the dimple die holes and come out one. Second was to run custom bent hard lines secured along the inside of the frame rails with clamps that were threaded into the boxing plates. I'm running a rear mounted blazer tank will come off the s-10 sender unit with braided line with an AN adapter to an inline fuel filter to hard line.

      Brake lines run similar .

Wires for rear lights and fuel pump and gauge will be hidden inside frame.

I hope to run a mustang exhaust at least as far back as the h pipe. Would like to run the exits behind the rear wheels just to lower sound in the cab. but might have to go with an out the side exit before the rear wheels. It will be tight out back with c notch, spring under axle , and gas tank.
