      1971 Ranchero wheel choices

      Hi All,

      Looking into a new set of wheels for my Ranchero, most likely 19's & 20"s.

      Is that too big?
      I have 18's all the way 'round currently, and they fit fine. They've just been on there for a few years and I'm getting tired of them.

      I plan on going with the same width & aspect ratio tires (245/40 fr 275/40 rr), and theres plenty of room underneath for them.

      Ideas?

      how close are the dimensions between the ranchero & a regular torino as far as the rear wells? i recently sold my 17's (9.5" wide rear w/ 285/40's) off my mustang & went with a 20x10 in the rear with a 295/35. i sold the 17's to a guy with a 71 torino gt & they fit his car fine, so figured the rear wells must be similar to mine. depending on how close yours are to a reg torino, you shouldn't have any trouble with something that size.

      heres my new setup;

      Those look sweet!
      I'm almost positive that'd fit...I've got one of those Percy's tire fitment gauges on the way to make sure. I had a 295/50r15 shoved up in there for a while, but back spacing wasn't right and the tires kissed the fender lips while cornering.
      I probably need a panhard bar up under there as well.
      Are those 20's all the way around? And what kind of tires are those?

      thanks! just remember that the 295/35-20 is 2" taller in overal diameter than the 295/50-15 was. width should be o.k. but make sure you have enough room in the front & rear inner well where they curve out.

      the percy's tool will help. i made my own out of scrap stel laying around the shop & it has been a big help on the last few cars i've built.
      tires are nitto invo's & the fronts are 18x8' with 245/40's.
