The Gunplay, Gunshy, Black Widow

Project ADD? Hmm yep, why not? So I am a bit behind on projects but wanted to start updating and tracking progress on Gunplay.



I bought this bird last year after major jonesing and kicking my butt on selling my previous 67 400. Then bad influence buddies, and I checked the car originally for a buddy, but as life goes, I ended up adopting her and starting the project...

So as all craigslist ads go, she looked beautiful parked by the front of the house, in white....from 50 feet.... or on a 2x2 craigslist ad picture....

As with most cars, or just my plain luck, the story of actually getting there and buying her from her owner, was an adventure on itself (more details to come :D). Let's just say that the interior had several plastic roses, high heels, and glitter boxes and you get the idea. Yep, my other project Lolla is getting jealous as I type this

So here she is when I got her home:

so plans called for some cleanup (:D), and start tearing down. The car had been sitting for a while, but I felt the love and potential

Plans are to keep this project relatively budget minded for the time being, the engine is a 400, and has a floor auto, and the car is overall very solid. Next steps on the project was a tough call on which color to go with (my last 67 was silver), and I wanted something along those lines. I really dig gunmetal gray or charcoal, but did not want extremely dark, so I ended up finding my answer parking behind a girl driving her BMW M3 at work.

So, since I teased earlier, here is is a fun add I found inside the glovebox inside an envelope :D The girl on the pic is actually the previous owner (Amina); she had the last 15 years, and was her baby for a while.




When I picked up the car in the mountains, close to Santa Cruz in CA, (Bolder Creek), the place I got to was out of a "Sons of Anarchy" kinda scene, the car was actually at her ex boyfriend's house... behind a couple trucks, some Buicks and some cool 55ish Chevies.

The front of the house, a biker group, actually pretty cool crew, once the "crap, I have all this cash on my pocket and am in the middle of nowhere with this gang" feeling passed, enjoyed some tri-tip and a beer with them as we loaded the car in my trailer.

So funny thing I found popping the hood of the car this weekend was this little fella, size of a ping pong ball waiting for me Kind of funny since the car had teh Black Widow stickers

Thanks! I took her for a neighborhood spin last night, installed front bumper, modified and painted grille, and need to install headlights and tailights, bolt seats, seatbelts, and at least a rearview mirror and be able to cruise a bit

Dang I slacked so here are some updates (finally) We had a great time this past weekend, United Airlines puts this killer get together every year, hanging out with other killer rides, airplanes, choppers, Blue Angels, etc

I somehow messed up both door locks coincidentally both stopped working late Saturday night, so entrance on the car right now is Dukes of Hazard style only

I plasti dip the windshield and rear window trim as well.



Last week was a major hustle and I did not get much sleep but was well worth making it there

To the list, I still need to finish up the interior (I went with a pair TA seats I bought here), dong the LS brake swap since drums and high HP just do not mix well, suspension and lower the stance a few inches all around, etc. Then continue cleaning up other stuff, engine bay, undercarriage, etc.

I like the look of the car. The stance isn't bad now, but with a little tweak the attitude of the car is really going to be spot on.

Cool Firebird--I had a '68 way back when (like '93 or so). The happiest change to that nose-heavy ******* was applying gas KYBs and polyurethane bump stops. Please tell me you got rid of those hideous GM lower control arms. They just beg to hit parking blocks...

Here's to fond memories of burning the rear tires off for nearly an entire city block when the throttle linkage stuck... The 400 'yak can be quite an exciting motor!

Was wondering if you had any more pics of the slotted mags as were on it when you orginially got the car.

I've been pondering using a slot set on my build. Thanks!!
