      V8 LQ4 Engine

Somebody advised me to have installed in my Impala SS a Vortec MAX V8 LQ4 six litre engine with complete GM plug and run harness and management system. The motor has done 13 000 miles and is selling for $5 500.00. What is you opinions and advice?

That may be a fair price, why is this engine being sold? have you tested or seen a compression test done? have you run a computer scan on it yet? I would do those things and then go further.

If it is a Vortec MAX engine, it's an LQ9. That's a good price for an LQ9 with such low mileage if it's in fine working order. The LQ9 had more power and torque than the LQ4. Both are great engines. The 9 is just demanded more.

Putting the engine into your Impala would be a good choice but I have no idea what all you'll have to do to make it fit and get the accessories mounted properly. It's the little stuff that makes swapping an LS based engine into a car "difficult". Good luck. The Impala looks great!
