HP peak on the motor? Want to run the quarter with all 4 gears or just 3?

Generally want to be at the finish line at or 500 rpm above peak HP. Some guys do want to use all 4 gears on an OD tranny, others just 3 especially if does more street service.

there are calculators to give you an idea of where you want to be, off the top of my head with a 28" tire with a 1to1 final gear you'll want to use something like a 4.11 or 4.30.

Thanks Sam, I'm actually running 4.30's. A little difficult to control excessive wheel spin on the street.

When I was drag racing Dust Off back in the 70's I was running a T-10 with a 4.88 rear gear and 28" slicks. I lauched and shifted at 7000. I would cross the 1/4 mile at 6500 in fourth gear. Of course the 4.88 is totally useless on the street.
