Carroll Shelby passes away
Just saw a link on Jayski to the Ford Racing site announcing the passing of Carroll Shelby.
A sad day for anyone with a love of cars and motorsports. The unfortunate reality of the performance car industry taking shape in the immediate post war era is that we are losing the icons of the sport with a sad regularity.

I read he survived a heart transplant and a kidney transplant and said he was good as long as he didn't run out of spare parts.

He was from another generation and a galaxy apart from the rest. In looking for info on his passing I found this article that he and Jim Hall tried to get Chevy to bite first in 1959. Can you imagine if Chevy had gone along how unstoppable would have a Hall/Shelby team have been.

Weird part in that article they talk about the fuel cell that was installed in the 1990's (actually 1989) because the 3rd car was to be vintage raced. I was the person who installed said fuel cell, along with getting the car running. Never realized close to history I was at the time.
