New guy in Lexington, KY----- 1967 Pontiac Tempest Custom

Hello all, my name is Louis.... I am new here but have been lurking for a few weeks. I have come here to learn what I can and maybe contribute if I can.

As stated in the title my current project is a 67 Tempest. The car is meant to be a graduation gift for my wife-- I have two years to get this done and a limited budget to do so... (isn't that always the case?) Anyway here's the scenario:

The car is a PHS documented, numbers matching car. Problem is bench seats, drum brakes, and a 2bbl 326, 2 speed column shifted ST-300, and factory code champagne color exterior with gold interior. I don't know if I can bear to make it stock again (It may be cheaper in the long run but, I don't yet know)

Currently the car is in the body shop. It was gutted by my wife and I when it arrived here. The body shop pulled the frame off and blasted everything. As it stands, the frame has been painted and the stock suspension has been made new again. The body is sitting on new bushings waiting for new metal which just arrived last week. If you have any interest, I have a build thread with a ton of pics over here: http://forums.performanceyears.com/f...d.php?t=673355

As a result of finding this board and a few others, I have discovered that I might like the opportunity to make this car more than it could ever hope to be in stock form. I have been mulling over the idea of doing an LS1 swap and possibly swapping in a 6-speed. The new auto's are fine as well. Then I started looking at brakes and wheels and tires and, well, my head hurts now LOL.

Right now, I'm just shopping around to see what is out there and coming to sites like this to see what others are doing with their builds....

I have to say that I haven't seen too many "A body" cars here.... Mostly Camaro/Firebird, Chevelle and Novas....
I'm really hoping to find more 67's like mine so I can get a better idea of what I'm getting myself into. This is my first "older car". I usually fool with other cars so, this is new to me.

Looks like a great project! Picyures are great on the link BTW. Let me know if you have any questions about suspension upgrades for the Poncho
