      Where did i come from?

Growing up i was always interested in engined and mechanics of all sorts. I started with hot rodding my lawn mowers and tractors in my pre teens to mow my neighbors lawns, making more power ment a faster cut in my eyes. i moved on to motocross and then my truck which is well underway of phase 2.
My dad always owned a 1966 C2 vette with a 327 (since the early 70's), taught me the basics, but never bonded over projects. he told me it was the car i would go to prom in. never happend.
Since my parents got divorced ive been pushing him to restore the vette, he just turned 60 and is finanically set, and im 22. Last week he told me he has no interest in getting the vette going now, and that he has had thoughts of selling it. now he wants a Jetta......
      WHY!?
I cant fathom on why you would not want to cruise the vette with the top down and relive the glory days.
not a day goes by do i wish i hadnt started my project with my truck because i want to drive it, and im 5 years deep into it.
Is it lack of motivation or is his old age getting to him?

I bet Randal is right about what the car means to your dad. Maybe there are some memories associated with the Vette that are making him want to get rid of it.

      ...and people do change.

If you like the car, get it from him. If not, oh well. At least you had a dad that helped you with some car knowledge.

      Good luck,

My hearts not set on the vette, if i was to purchase a vette it would be a 62.
I suppose people changing is the answer, I know for a fact my Chevy will never see a for sale sign, nor will i ever undergo such a long wait to have it on the road like this past one has been. To each their own i suppose
