Solid Roller Cams

I am about to start my new engine for the first time and I wanted to hear about other peoples experiences with running solid roller cams on the street. I have read stories about low RPM durability problems associated with the lifters. Apparently the problem is that the needle bearings on most solid roller lifters are not pressure fed. Since they were designed primarily for racing they relied on the significant oil "splash" at high RPM to lubricate the needle bearings. But I now that some of you guys run regular old solid rollers (like mine) and I want to know about your experience with them.



Also, I know that Erson (Red Zone) and someone else make lifters with a groove for pressure feeding. Also, I have seen the new Shubecks that have no bearing at all but rely on a film of oil for the bearingless roller to "free ride" in a pocket. These are real sweet and pricy at about $1k a set.

A easy solution is spray valve covers. Helps cool valve springs also.

Sometime back Shubeck came out with a lifter for solid roller cams that had a hard radiused nose machined into the lifter in place of the needle bearing cam follower. But this design required a specially ground cam to work with it. But the new Roller X works with standard solid roller cams.
Although they are expensive they are a lot cheaper than a complete rebuild after a blown needle bearing.

Any more info on this? I was wondering how this would improve the durability of the needle bearing in the lifters? BTW....I LOVE the vert!

Sorry, read quickly, this solves the needle bearing in the rockers problems. I have never had any issue with lifters.
