Let's see if I understand this a individual with a low post count is looked at with great skepticism. I posted here got shot down by the moderator. At the time everyone on this forum was acting like Jon was putting food on there table. Parson you have over 9k post I guess that makes u a lot better, than someone with a single post I guess u also started with 1 post. The bottom line is Jon/driverz is no different than a crook putting a gun to your head and taking your money, Jon only used a comp and a phone.

Yes, that's true, and it's especially true when a person's only post is to register a complaint.

We all start with a single post, and it takes time and effort to establish one's identity on a forum. It's the same thing as a stranger showing up at your front door with a "great opportunity" for you. If you've never seen them before, you're gonna be skeptical about whatever product they are pitching. If they are an old friend, you'll be more inclined to listen to what they have to say. That's how human communities generally interact, and it's no different in an online forum.

in no way shape or form did the mods of this site conspire with Driverz. but i do think that Driverz has reminded PT.com that bad things do happen. the fact that PT.com consulted with an attorney attests to the fact that some CYA procedures were necessary.

any forum worth visiting has vendor links lining the right-hand side of all pages and scrolling gifs at the top of their pages. when vendors pay PT.com to advertise, is that a sort of endorsement of that company or product by PT.com? i think one could argue yes.

Not really. Obviously the forum checks to see if a vendor is legit, and not just allowing anyone to advertise. Driverz actually put orders through, and they were an actual business with a license. Forums have vendors pay to specifically allow businesses willing to put out the cash to help support the forum, and in return, people who don't pay cannot advertise on the site, and the paying vendors get the status to point out products and highlight them in a special forum. This does come with the perk of cleaning up people who could just be trying to stir the pot with unbacked claims of bad customer service or not getting product. But once enough complaints come in, they know it's a real issue and will remove the vendor.

      I hope that was clear..

Wrong. Corner Carvers and the H.A.M.B. come to mind.

Is HotRod, or any other magazine, endorsing low cost erectile disfunction pills? Doubtful. Dollars make the world spin.

UNFORTUNATELY...and it is unfortunate...the recent experiences with PTS and Driverz will reflect on ALL vendors and manufacturers here. Those 2 vendors stick out sorely because they are an anomoly. Please don't forget that nearly ALL of the vendors on this site have a stellar record of excellence with products and service. That is not to say that many have never had a problem...most have at one time or another. The difference being in how the problem was handled. Obviously PTS and Driverz handled their problems badly...VERY badly for those who lost money.
pro-touring.com has a very hard job. At what point do they boot a vendor? Conversely, at what point is a customer complaining for the sake of complaining? I don't know that answer to those questions and I'm glad I am not tasked with finding out.
At the end of the day we are all better off because of the existance of pro-toung.com, and many of the other forums that allow us to research, discuss, pontificate, bitch, praise, and generally exchange information freely.

Unlike a barfight, an internet forum fight doesn't have to end. The participants don't bleed, get physically hurt, sober up, have to go home or to work, or any of the other things that typically end a barfight. Forum fights can [unfortunately] continue indefinitely. But to what end?

Larry...as a hotrodder, I am going to make a motion to lock this thing down. There is no new information. What is here can be archived and searched. Forward progress has stopped. On with building hotrods!

      Bret,

Thank you for the nice wrap up.

I also want to make it EXPLICITLY CLEAR. Neither this forum or any of the moderator specifically endorse any business that is a paid advertiser.

Like others have said before, when an advertiser places an ad on a forum, in magazine, newspaper, or television, the people in charge of the medium do not offer any sort of endorsement.

The vendor feedback forum is the place where all concerns about a vendor should be posted.

Lol. Looks who is back. I will say this, all the complaints as of late have been obviously just, Ernesto is a tool and was just looking for a handout. Complain about everything and expect everything for free. I have keep out of everything posted, but he mentioned me by name so I should be able to respond. If details are needed about Ernesto, I can, and will gladly post.

Agreed. And add to that his customer service appeared to be top notch. So many of my emails and PM's were answered with diligence by the guys there. I thought surely they were the ones to buy from when I was ready. Im glad I didnt make any hasty decisions.

Agreed too... New Gen wheels look nice, but it was clear that new wheel orders to Drivers were basically funding the orders that were 3 months behind.

Maybe Jon needs to just go on that Shark Tank show and sell New Gen wheels to one of the sharks where he can just stay on as a design consultant. lol

Like I said before, I don't think he was stealing the money, I just think he was a very poor businessman and bad at financial planning. He likely had to buy costy equipment to start New Gen and was using the money from Driverz orders to pay for it.

But that doesn't matter, this thread is for solutions, not trying to play detective. I just hope everyone can get their money back, including the creditcard companies.

I have an idea. If the manufacturers of products forced these vendors to stock a set amount of product or operate on a set escrow account, this would be a hell of a lot less likely. If your potential vendor can't meet your requirements, they shouldn't be peddling your product. End of story.

Unfortunately, it's hard to keep an inventory of custom wheels, and I would think it would be a pain in the ass to dump money into a holding account. That would dramatically increase startup costs and hurt the community, and it may also slow down the ordering process (place order, wait for money to be transferred).

You would think it's common sense to have a little money set aside for operating costs, though...
