      What Tires To Use?

My rims arrived...now I need to choose tires. I am running 18x8 fronts and 18x9.5 on the back. I have a 68' Camaro. I'll be lowering the front 2" and the rear 3". It was suggested to me that I run a 245-45-18 front tire and a 275-40-18 rear tire.

My local tire shop doesn't have a matching tread pattern ( any brand) in these sizes..They do offer a a 245-40 front and a 275-40 rear matching in a sumitomo....KQM052 said that's about a 1" difference in the front tire size...I'm just worried that may be too much....

Who makes a matched tread design in both these sizes? (245-45-18 and 275-40-18) What brand of tires do you recommend...

      JY,

I just bought some 275/35/18 and 295/35/18 Kumho Ecsta MX for my '01 SS. I don't have any driving impressions yet as I haven't gotten them mounted up, but I posted a thread here a few weeks back and most seem to love the tires. Not sure why they didn't have any matching thread patterns? Strange. Sounds like the tire shot might not have known too much. A 275/40 is a more common 17" tire, most 275/18s i've seen have an aspect ratio of 35, same goes for the 245/18s--most have a 40 series sidewall, not 45. Go to tirerack.com, and search for 275/35/18. Find a tire that matches your budget, and performance goals, and see if it is avaiable in a 245/40/18, most tires should be.
