      Congrats Steve Rupp!

Saw your car on the cover last night and quickly opened to read what your wrote about yourself. Cool article and great write up. I think Johnny could have taken better pics of your car but oh well still looks great. Just looks soooo much better in the sunlight. The pics really didnt do your car any justice of how nice it really is. Again, congrats on your job opportunity and the success with your 69 Camaro (Project Z069).

You got your PHR already?!?! Jeez, I just got last months issue a couple of weeks ago! Well, congrats Steve. It's a beautiful car. I guess I'll see it in a few weeks! Hey, who did you have to know to get your car in PHR?

Thanks.. here is the story behind that..

When I was applying for this job Super Chevy was recruiting me to be on thier May 2005 issue (ls1 issue).. I got this job and joked that if PHR wanted my car they owed me a cover since I had it set with Super Chevy..

Well, we pick covers based on what looks the best more than the car.. best angle, lighting, background and what is best for inserting cover blurbs. After we shot my 69 Johnny was not happy with the location (March AFB).. too many trees and too cluttered. So, we went with the red firebird esprit on the cover, it was a better picture and even though I was dissapointed it was better for the magazine.

Johnny surprised me by putting my car on the sub-cover (what we call the subscription issues). After all the work it was sure nice to see it on there. So, that is three magazine features and two covers in my life so far. I am due for my next cover in 2024.. ;)

Also, it was weird writing the feature since I was writing about my own car. Usually when you write about someone elses car you "talk it up" and I felt stupid doing that in this case. I also figured it was a good time to sort of introduce myself to the readers. I hope it came out ok, I am sometimes hypercritical of my own work.

Anyways, thanks for the comment and as Paul Harvey says.. "and now you know the REST of the story."

Glad to hear you plugged my two favorite sites on the net!! Now if the mailman would finish reading it already...lol. It sucks being 3000 miles away from primedia.

Haha. Ouch. I'm frantically trying to beat that stigma. The Chevelle is getting dyno'd then track tested this weekend, but it's already been shot and written up for PHR. Crap! STOP THE PRESSES!

Yup. 10am it's doing a pull with the current 2.5" exhaust. Then it get's a shiny new mandrel bent 3" system and another go on the dyno. It's being done up in Lancaster at R&E Racing. I'm excited and nervous. I'm low-balling my hp expectations. We're running kinda low boost right now since it's not intercooled. So I figure maybe 700, though that may be kinda high but who knows. Any guesses based on the specs I gave you?

      To the wheels? hmmm

wild ass guess of the day.. 572 to the wheels.. figuring pump gas, lower boost and no intercooler.. well actully I asked the magic eight ball...

Sorry about the lack of info, we're at about 10psi, running race gas or at least a mixture. I'd like to see about 600-650 at the wheels, but since it's not intercooled yet, I don't expect anything too stellar. We'll see though.

...looks like some extreme G-forces going on in that photo

I put 4500 miles on it during Power Tour, thats plenty of fast corners

But, lets not get into project names since your Corvette themed car had a Subaru paint job and pretty much no Z06 parts on it
