      4l80e conversion, NEED ADVICE PLEASE!

      I am just converting my 63 belair [project flatliner] to a 4l80e it currently has a 4l60e in it, and now with the recent decision to go with twin turbos I know the tranny is the week link so I picked up a 4l80e out of a 2003 one ton van and need advice.
      WHAT ELSE DO I NEED?
      Is the yolk the same as a th400?



      what is the difference in length?

      What can I use to shift it with? I would like to be able to shift it manually also as well as auto.factory corvette? or I have ruled out the paddle shifting out I think this is great in a f1 car but I just can't see this working well for a big boat. we will be building a custom console so a factory shifter on the floor would be great even if it is out of another brand of car if anyone has used one that works post up picts. that would really help.

      I plan on using the factory pcm for the shifting. from what I here the pin connectors need to be changed. any links that would be great.or picts.

      I plan on rebuilding this myself what else should I look at replacing/upgrading?

      any advice on a convertor would be greatly appreciated as well. the car will be road raced,auto crossed,drag raced and mostly street driven, oh yea and pull a pop up camper to the tracks. any Ideas? hoping to see about 650 to 700rwhp. prob. close to that in torq. guessing the car weighs about 4700.

      Wow! 4700 pounds with 700 whp, racing and towing. Your 4L80E will probably need every trick in the book. We can definitely take care of you on the converter. We're very proud of our design and have more satisfied pro-touring converter customers than anyone. it will take a 10.5" billet unit with a monster lock up clutch. You might find that the stock pcm will not provide the needed control and calibration flexibility for your unusual application. You are welcome to try and then swap for an aftermarket tcm down the line. An off the shelf calibration simply does not exist for that combination. It will help to have an experienced tuner in your corner.

      Though I don't do business with them, these guys have a web page that describes 4L80E hard parts availability. From there, Bowler makes a road race friendly valve body that works amazing. 4L80E's also need a fluid overflow tank for road racing. Moroso makes a great kit. There is limited availability for 4L80E shifters, but 4L60E offerings can be tweaked to work.

      Steve I talked with you about a month ago about this and I can't thank you enough for the time and support.just now starting to collect parts and get things ready before the swap.I do have one of the best tuners in the county in my corner so that aspect is no worries. at this point I would really like to nail down a shifter that I can use and will function well in all conditions.the throw is different between a 4l60 and a 80?
