      Iron LS3 vs Aluminum?

How much weight savings is lost when going to Iron LS2 vs all aluminum? Is the additional cost in $$ worth it?

The 6.0 iron block is 70 lb. heavier than its aluminum counterpart. The vast majority of people will not notice the weight difference, but you're more likely to feel it if you're road racing. The iron block will offer more strength in the extreme applications (i.e. power-adders) because it will not have the cylinder wall distortion that you will see in the aluminum blocks. The iron block may have a weight penalty, but it definitely has a cost savings! It is among the most popular stroker engine that we offer.

At 1/2 to 1/3rd the price, I went with an iron block.

Bought used with warantee. Tune and exhaust alone put an LQ9 over 400hp.
