Thanks for the link. I design in Catia V5 for one of the 'Big 3' by day, so we'll see how this compares to the big boys.

I am running Unigraphics also but this is interesting. The count bumped up to 74,105 when I hit the submit button...

I'm a mechanical designer, so I figure I'll give it a shot. I'm soon to be a SolidWorks Certified Professional, so I'm always interested in checking out the 3D cad softwares.

Also do a little AutoCAD 2005 and some other stuff, we built huge industrial air handling units.

PDS, AutoCad, Microstation and SmartPlant. Birdman, wait 'till you get a load of SmartPlant and how great (cough, cough) it is. Not.

I think at the rate it's going it won't make it to 100,000. Actually it is quite possible that it would never reach 100,000 no matter how many people signed up. That way they still get their publicity with the empty promise and get to eat their cake to.

This is some kind of freeware CAD program? I haven't clicked on the link yet but I will probably sign up and if it ever does come, it would be neat to have.

I used to use Unigraphics at my old job, took all the classes I could for I-deas in college, and now I'm forced to use AutoCAD 2005 (barf). We have Catia everywhere else in our company. Heck, if this program is any good and it's free, maybe we'll get it in our department!

we just changed from Pro/e 2001 to Wildfire. (Same software, just upgraded to compete with solidworks) So far, Wildfire acts and work similar to Solidworks. Each has it's plus and minus, but both are better than Autocad.

My expectation is that this is just email address farming - hence the "opt-in" website you've got to go to in order to confirm your email.

But... I put mine in there anyway. Worst case, I get a couple more spam letters a day. Best case, free CAD software.

SmartPlant is like AutoCad 2.1 on a slow 286. Remember those days? I haven't seen the QuickPen. And wasn't Unigraphics part of Bentley years back?

Have any of you used the XCad software?

Unigraphics was part of GM for a long time. I think it was developed for Mcdonald Douglas Air craft, It was bought and sold a few times.

Its now a company by itself.
