BF Goodrich is Michelin, they use the same UTQG and get the tires tested at the same facility. The good Michelin(which is actually best in slot for our cars) is a 220 TW.

The Michelin SuperSport tires are neat; the tire compound varies across the width of the tire, so you you make use of camber gain during the corners to utilize the sticky part of the tire, but you're nominally riding on a harder compound area for greater mileage.

I have heard from several sources that the 300 TW Super Sports will out perform the 220 TW PS-2s. The tread wear rating is just that, it is supposed to determine how long the tire would potentially last under normal use. That being said, the new Super Sport will potentially last longer AND give better performance. Yah !!!

I would put money on this tire being worse than the KDW, which is already a terrible option. I was hoping for a tire close to the KD, which is a good tire and not even in the same league as the current stuff. I cant be the only one that doesnt look at this tire and see a copy of the firestone, with a big step backwards in tread design?

I just put a set of super sports on my Audi S4 and I'm happy with them so far. I wish they made them in popular 18" sizes. I have a feeling they will phase out the ps2 and replace them over time. From my minimal research, they are supposed to exceed PS2 performance and last longer.

The BFG KDW is a hard compound. I had a set on my car for a while and they didn't wear much.

You know, I'm actually starting to miss my old KDWs. I can't believe I said that. They squealed all the time, but for my level of driving talent, they can just keep up with what I can get out of the car. When I think about a dual purpose car, at least for me, I'm starting to think that the level of performance I can achieve with a 200 TW tire might not be worth having to replace the things all the damn time. I can't keep up with how many 200 TW tires I have bought in the last year.

Good point...There is no doubt that they are the best economical choice. I never got my car dialed in on them but DSE & Finch prove they can perform.

Todd, I ran one last little peanut autocross with the car on KDWs and the shocks set identical to DSE's car, and man did it haul. After all of that time, they have developed a platform that just works.

You run/ran NT05's right? I read report after report on various sites how the NT05s can take 10k+ miles including many track days...... I know Ryker's lasted a hella long time too... (did I just say hella?)

Yes. You just said hella. It's ok, we Southern Californians are accepting of both the life style and vocabulary choices that many of you Northern Californians make.

I will soon be finding out how long my set of NT05s last. So far I've only had one or two autocrosses on them. March is going to be a busy month though, with El Toro, Goodguys, and maybe a little time at Adams, we'll see how long they last.

One thing I do know though... Good Year Eagle F1 G:2s don't last long on the track

I wouldn't say my NT05's lasted a hella long time.

In 8K miles I destroyed 3 sets of front tires completely and one rear set. The 2nd set of rears have a lot of life on them.

Lets see, in those sets of tires I did approx:

2 RTTC's 3-4 goodguys autocrosses, 3 trips to Adam's (like a large autocross), the Hotchkis sponsored Autocross (only a few laps) and 6-9 track days (can't remember the number). Is that Hella long? I dunno. I do know that at the end I was destroying the tires far faster than at the beginning. Maybe I've learned some bad driving habits on the track and induced too much under steer.

The Comp 2 is being tested against run of the mill 300 tw tires . . . It is not an R comp and it is not a more aggressive KDW. It's just an updated G-force sport. I had the old G-force sports on my Mustang in 225 60 15 and they were actually a really good tire. They weren't up for track use though. They'd melt off in just a lap or two. G-force sports were a mediocre autocross tire. Nowhere near the Dunlops I have now, but certainly miles ahead of the Radial TA's I used to have on the Trans Am. They served me well, but I now have a tire-buying/track-driving addiction that puts me out of the market for 300 tw tires.

And strangely, I believe the Boss comes with more aggressive tires from the factory. It would have been interesting to see some baseline numbers on the Boss compared to the Comp 2's.

Well what other interesting adverb would you use then, Chad?

Bottom line, from your usage I think that is a very good life for a pretty sticky street tire.

I think you'll be destroying them at a faster clip now with your newfound torque!

Well to be honest I was more refering to the length in rather than "hella" lol. I'm NorCal born and raised so I still slip in the Hella now and again though its a rare use these days.

I'm planning to start using the R888's in the future. If I magically start being competitive because my car is capable of making up for my lousy driving then maybe I'd start paying attention to this 200 tread wear stuff. The events that have tread wear minimums I'm at to hang out with you guys and check out cool cars more than I am to compete. Of course that is because I haven't been competitive...

BTW how do you get those little event symbols in your sig?

Ha I don't even know how or why I said that.... I don't remember the last time I heard or used Hella.... gotta been 5 years or more!

R888s... that makes sense with your new big time power. I think you are selling yourself short. You have experience on the track and even though you will be learning a whole new car and power level, I think your ahead of many people. Face it, you've been doin pretty good with Doug Renner type power. LOL

I can't remember now on the "awards" (that's what they're called if you go into your own user profile).... there was a place to submit your request to add them a while back..... probably have to search for it or PM Larry now.... sorry not much help.
