Front rim hits upper control arm

I have a 67 Camaro with stock front clip. Modifications are Hotchkis SB 2" lowering springs, Street Comp stage 2-plus adjustable upper control arms with tall ball joint. I had 18x8 w/4.5 bs wheels and no issues. I purchased new rims 18x9 w/6" bs. Now I have an issue. Everything I had measured and thought may give me clearance issues are ok. The issue I found is when turning to full lock the upper control arm hits the inner rim about 4" back from the upper ball joint. The good news is I found this out with the car sitting still.

My new wheels are Forgelines and it would be cheaper to change some suspension components and make these work vs buying 18x8 w/4.5 bs Forgelines. I can't shim out any so that idea is out. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks

Please read what Marcus @ SC&C wrote me some time ago concerning a similar issue (5" BS with a 17" rim):

5" is too much backspacing for almost any 1st Gen A arms, factory was only 3.75"! (5" BS would be ideal on an A body but not a Camaro) We recommend 4.5" and no more than 4.75" for most clients.
You can still run 5" BS but must understand that concessions need to be made to work with those wheels.
The NASCAR screw in ball joint option is intended to increase clearance by making the ball joint plate more compact and will probably take care of your clearance issues. You`re welcome to exchange your unused 4 bolt ball joints and ball joint plates for NASCAR ones. Just return them with a note and we`ll swap them for you. There is a +$20 charge for the NASCAR ball joints and they will come already installed in the ball joint plates. This will give you about 1/2" of additional clearance.
There are also options to reconfigure the A arms if you don`t mind modifying the mounts on the subframe. The front gusset would need to be trimmed and rolled inward toward the shock or replaced with a fabricated gusset in the appropriate location. We can substitute straight, longer turnbuckles for the bent section and shorter turnbuckle on the front side of the arms. This yields about 1" of extra clearance.
Or if you want to clear insane backspacing (we have clients running this format with 6" of BS!) you can simply turn the bent section of the arms backward so it is facing in toward the shock rather than out and away from it. This gives you more clearance than Speedtech`s high clearance arms. You don`t need to exchange any parts to do this but it does require a little old fashioned hot rod frame bracket modification/fabrication. This yields about 2" of extra clearance. The wheels/tires may still hit the sway bar or the subframe but they for sure won`t hit the upper A arms!
Additionally you can (slightly) lengthen the steering stops and reduce steering radius in case it still hits the stops before full lock.

Thanks for the info. I talked with the guys at Ride Tech and I'm leaning towards using their front suspension setup. The tru turn setup along with the upper and lower control arms, coil overs and muscle bar. It's the same set up used on the 48 hour Camaro. Right now I have several different components making up my front suspension. It works good but I think this is a good time to bite the bullet and up grade.
