      drop springs

      ok so i know theirs a bunch of threads on here about this but i didnt want to have to read through all of them to see if they answered my question so here it is: i want to lower my camaro 2 inches up front from stock and i would like to do it with springs because it seems easier, just slip them in and all done, so i was wondering if it was better to spend the money for hotchkis springs or buy the cheaper springs with the same rates and all that. now with that being said i also dont know what the best rates are and diameters and all that.

      We specify Hotchkis springs quite often. They are consistent and of premium quality.

      Hotchkis publishes their rates which helps us tune even further. We can mix and match rates and part numbers to get customers cars sitting and/or handling properly.

      Since springs are the foundation of your suspension, I'd go for the quality parts from the start.

      For rates in your cars case we would need to know the application (I'm assuming Pro-Tour events) and some other aspects of your suspension. I know there's a guy or two on here with some 1st Gen experience who could guide you. Are you street driving or competing?

      So you're just creating a new thread to a topic which has been discussed over and over since the beginning of time? Chances are, your answers here will lead to more questions Danielson. If you'd consider doing the reading, you'd probably learn more than you could through the questions you'd never think to think up. Thank god I'm not a vendor so I don't have to take the politically correct approach to answering.

      Since price seems to be your primary consideration, consider just cutting the springs you have. That's the cheapest option and you'll also get a side benefit of an increased spring rate as you lop off more and more coils until that thing is so low, it's sending sparks down the road.

      i dont need to read through a full build threads just to find this one question, i dont need to be over whelmed with things that i dont need to know about quiet yet since im just getting springs not the latest and greatest arms and coil overs that money can buy. All im doing is daily driving and some fun roads around where i live so i dont need anything to crazy.

      One to keep in mind. If you have stock 30-40 year old springs, then they're probably already sagging by 2 inches or more. A new 2 inch drop spring will maintain that height and sometimes even raise it a bit, especially if you've done things to lighten the front of the car up, such as aluminum heads/fiberglass hood, etc.
