      TH400... For now.

I have decided to go with a TH400 for the Bad Ast project. I can't find an OD auto that will live behind the 509 that I can afford. The 4L80E is about the only viable option and I just can't afford the electronics so, I am going with a "dinosaur" trans that I can build affordably. The light at the end of the tunnel is a Gear Vendors Unit. I will save my pennies and do that in a couple of years.
Any advice on the 400? What should I have done to make it live behind a 550 horse BBC? Any local vendor recommendations. Flint or Livonia areas.
      Thanks
      Mark

Okay Jay, You've got my attention, let's talk. Can I call you? I work in Livonia and am talking to Chuck from CT's Transmissions in Westland. He can build me just about anything so do you have any recommendations for a 4L80E?
Thanks for responding. I appreciate it.

I have a turbo 400 behind my 509 big block camaro....it has mild build and its starting to slip in 3rd. The most annoying thing about it is the lack of gears, I have 3" exhaust with super 40 flowmasters and it is sooo loud at 60mph. I would go with the 4l80 if you can!

      Thanks CBB,
4L80 is my 1st choice. The real issue is the money. I can always do a th400 and then save my allowance for a GV or 4L80. It's about three times the cost of a 400. I quess I'll just have to bite the bullit though. If Jay can help me out, we'll see.

No problem, give me a call tomorrow anytime. I live about 15 minutes from Chuck's. Maybe we could meet over there and I'll show you both what we have and what we can do. Glad to hear you're considering it. Being able to drive that thing is what really matters and the 4L80E will allow you to enjoy it way more than a TH400. Talk to you tomorrow.

      Thanks Jay,
It would be nice to pull this together. I really only want to it once, if you know what I mean. I'll call in the morning.
