      Another 68 Camaro

Figure it is time to post a build thread on my car since I am making some progress and have some time to work on it now. It's a very mild build compared to most cars here and I don't have a special project name.

I bought the car in August of this year as a project that had been painted and in California for most of its life. Car had a 302 Chevy in it that was a fresh rebuild and a rebuilt 12 bolt. Both are now sold as well as a ton of other parts that came with the car for a 68 Z28. The car is mostly original metal (hood and floor pan are not) painted the factory color of Matador Red with black Z stripes (I hate Red). I got a great deal on the car especially after I sold all the parts I am not using. Which lets me stomach it being red for now.

      Details of the build.

6.0 LQ9 Iron block motor with custom Spec'd cam. (Bought from Daytonayellaz)
      Stock heads for now
      GMPP Carb Intake
      LS1 T56 Tranny
      Moser 9 inch, 3.89 gears
Jake's Rod Shop C6 Subframe (Awesome frame and super easy to deal with)
      Global West Subframe Connectors
      Hotchkis Rear Leafs
      Recaro Seats

I am not going to be mini-tubbing the car, I bought the rear from Ron.in.SoCal and it is stock width and I already had the leaf springs. I am trying to build this car on as small as a budget as possible like many other people. I am 28 and work 2 jobs so I don't have a ton of time to get it done.

I recently installed a 1 piece floor pan because somone patched the toe board a small section of the driver pan and it looked like crap. The rest of the car is super solid.

      Here are some pics.

The first picture is when I brought the car home, the last picture is before I started tearing it down to install all the new parts. Will post more progress pics soon.

Very nice! I hear you on the red, but as I've heard about horses "Color is of little importance" You've got some nice parts!

I agree, at least the paint job is new and they did a great job with the bodywork. This car is super straight so I won't complain about the job too much. I would never turn down a great deal because of paint. I can paint it myself I just want to get it on the road for a while first.

Thanks good luck on your project as well. The only thing I wish I could change about the wheels are to have them in 9.5" with the right backspacing for the front. I am really wanting to run 275 tires on all 4 corners and it's not possible with these wheels

The rear wheels I have are 9.5 they just dont make the right backspacing for the front. I am probably going to end up selling these.

Thanks, Can't wait to get it running. Very nice 67 you have.

This is a cool car! Its in great shape! Aarik turned me on to the car, I went and looked at it....wanted it really bad and decided I shouldn't buy it due to finances.....and I have enough cars as it is. . Passed the opportunity back to Aarik to buy and he did! It was a smokin deal. I think he is glad he bought this one....right bro? You have been going to town on this thing that past few weeks, Looking great!

Definitely one of those deals that couldn't be passed up. I have been working hard and will post pictures in my next post, definitely glad I pulled the trigger!
Now it's your turn for a build thread since our subframe deals are finished and your car is moving back across the road to the shop ASAP

Complete floor is in and completely welded other than a couple spots on the frame rails. I just had LASIK eye surgery today and won't be able to finish it up for a few days.

I have not been able to finish much on the car but I did take a couple pictures of my 9 inch once i put it most of the way together. I am waiting on the brackets for my C6 brakes from Tobin which should be here today. Hopefully I made the right decision with the Tru-Trac and don't have any problems!

More progress pics? Looks like a solid selection of parts! Regarding the tru-trac, I have punished mine at the the dragstrip with drag radials, autocross, and track days without one issue, and this is behind 530HP and manual trans for about 5 years. No noise, no weird ratcheting, and no mid-turn grabbing.

Any plans for an axle stabilizer of some sort?

Hasn't been a ton of progress, Jake is building my headers and shipping my coil-overs when he gets your car done and I am going to put the engine in it. I am switching to a trailblazer SS LS2 instead of the LQ9 to make the nose of the car a little lighter. I'm going to run the rear end as it is for the summer and maybe next winter make some changes if needed.

About to order some dakota digital VHX gauges and paint the interior and firewall soon. So it's ready when I get my parts

Finally had a chance to finish up the bottom of the car. Raptor liner reduced about 20% so it has less texture. Sorry about the bad Iphone picture. Should be able to get the motor in tranny in sometime soon!
