      Project Iridium Cat - 1970 Cougar XR-7

      Folks,

First I want to say that I absolutely love this site and all of your projects. My Cougar is my second muscle car, I started with a 1970 Mach 1 that took my 5 years to restore http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3294365/1970-ford-mustang <--Click there if you want to see it.

So my new project is a 1970 Cougar XR-7. The reason for the name Iridium Cat is because Mercedes Iridium silver is the paint color for the car. I have already finished the suspension although it is in stock form it's all of the upgraded Eliminator edition equipment. The car is currently at the paint shop for paint and body.

Here is the rendering that I created for the car:

With the hidden headlights on the Cougar...I wouldn't be surprised if I get nice Charger or GTO.

Thanks! It was a great initial buy, the car was in fantastic original shape so it's making the restoration go very smooth.

Great to see another underutilized car being done. I had a 70 Mach 1 as well, and always liked the Cougars. I doubt the suspension is going to settle a whole lot, it looks like you'll still be too high. I would look into some lower springs or coilovers. Do you have the stock suspension setup or did you go aftermarket? All of the usual Mustang mods can be done to the Cougar as they are the same chassis as I'm sure you already know. What engine do you have in it? Also, I'm very interested to see how well that interior dye holds up. It looks great.

Re-Dye looks killer, what product did you use?

However long you think your project will take, double it and you might be halfway right.
