      67 Mustang Coupe/Fastback Conversion Thread

Well, I have been snooping around on here a little bit now, and I love watching all the build threads, so I have decided to start my own to share with you all. Everyone here seems to be great and I am looking forward to your advise and guidance throughout my adventure. I cant wait to get feedback and learn from you all, and maybe even give out some of my knowledge.

First off, a little about me. I have 3 college degrees (Automotive body Technology/collision repair, Firefighting, and Machine Shop Technology/Computer Aided Drafting and Design) and am currently a Conductor for Norfolk Southern Railway in Princeton, IN. I also have a small sandblasting/powder coating business on the side

Now for the car. It is a 67 Mustang Coupe, I got it when i was in college in 2005 as a project. when I got it, i was just going to do a cheap restoration and make it a daily driver, but i kept digging into it and before long, I had it to the bare shell and hacked off the pass. side quarter, taillight panel, lower drivers side quarter, and rear crossmember and replaced it all (about 3 months before they released fastback conversions ).
after I got all the bodywork done, I put it on hold for a while. Next I had to have a project in my Machine shop process classes, so I designed and built a rotisserie for it and started working on it again. I am now replacing the floorpans. As for suspension, I am using the entire TCI system, from the must. II front end with coil overs, chassis strengthening kit, subframe connectors, 3 link rear susp with coil overs. I plan on putting a Strange Engineering 9" under the back end (dunno details on the rear end yet) also have power rack and pinion steering, and will have power discs all around. once i finish everything else, I plan on swapping the coil overs with Ride Tech air ride springs.

Now as the motor goes, I have had my mind set on a Terminator for a while, but I am now considering a Coyote. But I have plenty of time to pick.

Y'all will have to bare with me, this will probably be the slowest progressing thread this site has ever seen. I can just buy parts as money permits. Thanks in advance for any help and comments!!

P.S. as for color, I am thinking something along the lines of Ford's Tuxedo Black with some form of stripes/design candy blue to match all my Powder Coated tubing on the suspension.

Anybody wanna give me some advise on brakes? I have been looking at wilwood's brakes, i'm clueless when it comes to brakes....i'm a body guy, no mechanic, but I will have a Strange Engineering rear end, which hopefully I will be getting this spring sometime, and i am wanting power discs on the front and rear...the front suspension came with cheap power discs with GM calipers and I am wanting to replace them too. Thank you for any help guys!

i thought i read the same once, but i think that's only the 69-70's. I measured my buddy's 68.5 r code and his rake was the same as mine, and the fb roof fit great!

You're going to have to change the title of you thread!

From where did you source the roof?
I'm considering doing this to my coupe, but may just start with a fresh fast back.

i tried to change the title, but couldn't figure out how. got the roof from a local classic mustang shop called "Mustang Corral" in Edwardsville, IL. they are a bit over priced on most things, but got a pretty decent deal on the roof.
it is a BIG undertaking, but i feel like I have juuuust enough auto body/fab knowledge to pull it off. i should be getting a new roof skin, full quarters, wheel houses, and a deck lid the last week of november, so i should have an update shortly after that with some metal on her!!

bolted up all my front suspension/brakes/steering today and propped up a fender. had to get some wheels on it so i can take her outside in the coming days and do some sand blasting on the roof frame before my sheet metal comes in

looking good ! are you planning on reinforcing the front end of the car any ? it is well know around the online mustang community but this is a good read. i did many of the modifications to my fastback, my car now has almost zero flex in it. it is by far the best improvement per dollar you can do. http://www.sn65.com/Fire%20&%20Ice%2...nforcement.htm
