      81 trans am

      Hello,
I have an 81 trans am. I've been working on it for about 4 1/2 years. It has a th-350, posi-trac with 3.08 gears, 4 wheel power disc brakes, power steering, a/c. It had a 1974 pontiac 350 with 1969 pontiac 400 heads. Last saturday I had a stroke of bad luck and now has 2 big cracks in cylinder 1. So now it's getting a 400 topped with my 69 400 heads and a q-jet that I have a Cliff Ruggles complete hp rebuild kit for. When I started out I was going to do a regular resto. But I've really gottin into the pro touring/street fighters. I've now decided to go this route on the resto.

The motor looked bad on the outside. But I tore it down since saturday and the valve train, lifter valley, pistons, and combustion chambers were so clean. No carbon build up on the valves, zero sludge anywhere. The motor was rebuilt back in the 90's but looked as if it were rebult a month ago.

There was a hurst dual gate, that broke so now it has a hurst ratchet shifter. I'm looking at motors and will prob have one by the end of this week. I'll be posting more pics as I go
