      Drop-In Tank install advise

Im looking for some advise on mounting a drop in tank in a car that was not designed for one. I've ordered a new Ricks tank for my car to support my EFI system. There are no tanks built for Mavericks so I went with a 68 Mustang 22 gallon model. The Mustang tanks are drop-in tanks where as my Mav tank straps in from underneath. How much support is needed to make it work. Looking at photos of mustangs, it appears that they just hang from the sheet metal flanges built into the trunk floor. Is it really that simple or is there a frame structure in there that is not visible from the photos.

In case you are wondering, I went with a Mustang tank because it has the same dimensions/footprint as a Maverick tank. In fact, the current tank is a 68 Mustang tank but the 16 gallon version. I just hammered the flanges down and strapped it on from underneath. This is not possible with the 22 gallon version.

      Thanks
      Chris

      Chris,

The mustang just sits on the trunk floor sheet metal. Except the inside edge is folded down to add stiffness.
