Firewall Smooooth,

I am probably going to start on my firewall here shortly, I was wondering if anyone makes a complete panel to weld in. I will running a ls3 with vintage a.c. I will also be running 6spd so need holes for master cylinder setup, Will the ls3 fit without the stock firewall being modified? Please shoot me some pics if you have any good advice, How about the hidden wiper motor setups?

not sure what kind of car you got but ABC performance makes some nice A-Body ones. bought one for my 72 Chevelle and its a very nice fitting piece (havent welded it in yet) http://www.abcperformance.net/firewa...%20panels.html

I put mine in about a week ago and it looks good although I don't have any pictures now. It has a rolled lip at the top and I had to grind down about half way, then I used the closeout panel as a template to cut out the old firewall. I cleaned up the cowl area where the old firewall was and then plug welded the top of the close out panel to the cowl and then stitch welded the sides and bottom just like is shown in the pictures on post #4. $80 sounds a little pricey for a piece of 18 ga. but it was pretty close to fitting out of the box and I would go that route again if I had to.

I used the Detroit Speed panel but here are a few others. I have seen a few threads where they put the wiper motor in the drivers outer cowl panel.

If you have a local metal supplier that will cut to your specs (such as Metal Supermarket), its easy enough to make a template out of poster board and trim it to fit with some shears. $80 bucks isn't much, but saving the shipping charge makes building your own less than 1/4 the cost...and you can tailor it exactly how you want.
