Don't know that I have heard of anyone hooking the Vette transaxle directly to the motor. I know that alot of people using LS motors in the Factory Five GTM cars use a Mendeola or Porsche Transaxle that bolt directly.

Yes there was a Corvair project that mated a C5 4L60E/C5 diff in the back. It was listed on the the old pro-touring main page.

I am not sure if it was ever completed. I am not sure if the 4L60 started off a C5 trans or a normal f-body/truck etc trans. The tail housing and output shaft would have to be from a C5 and the bellhousing from a F-body/truck woud likely have to be used.

A T56 would be trickier as the C5 shifter linkage comes in on the front plate of the T56 off the TQ tube. The tail housing usually houses the shifter in OEM application which can not be used with the C5 diff. You maybe able to use a normal LS1 front plate and input shaft with the shifter linkage coming in through the accessplate on the top of the trans. I had heard there were some forward mount shifter conversions in R&D.
