I'd like to point out, if I may, that there was two Priuses in the lot and he was awfully quick with a video camera/phone. I can't help but think there might be a bit of provocation. If he saw two prisuses(what's the plural for Prius?lol) in the back of a parking lot and parked next to them with the engine running, that makes him just as much of an ass as the woman.

There is a segment of the diesel truck scene that thinks more black smoke is good. These individuals make it politically difficult for all diesel truck owners and are routenly encouraged to clean up their truck tunes on the diesel forums I frequent. My Duramax is tuned with EFI Live in conjuction with a long list of intake and exhaust mods and rarely emits any visible smoke but it does smell at idle. For that reasion I rarely idle it for very long. The new tier 3 and tier 4 diesel engines are so much cleaner than diesels of even 10 years ago. The days of seeing trucks drive down the hiway with smoke billowing from the stacks is coming to an end as the newer generation of diesels replace the older trucks. That said, the Prius owner has no moral or ethical grounds for her inappropriate outburst and to be honest I don't know that I would have kept my cool as well as the truck driver in the video.

He was a LOT bigger man than I would have been for sure! After the rudeness from the get go, my foot would have been prolly about half throttle and varied from quarter to three quarters the entire time!!
But......I've never been accused of handling really rude people very well!! LOL

It's funny because the Prius causes more damage to the environment than nearly any other new car.

I am an OTR (over the road) truck driver. I drive all 48 states and find for weeks at a time. I put up with this at least 5 times a day. I can get a ticket for letting my truck idel over night so I can heat or ac to sleep. I have had A LOT prius cut me off brake check me or pull over to where I am and yell at me just like that. Day in and day out. There always quick tp blame me for destroying the world but, never count the stuff there buying that keeps me in a job. 80000 pound Pete vs a prius. But I was raised better than to fight with stupid people. My father always told me to treat people with respect, not because they deserve it but because I do.

The batteries are not quite the most environmentally-friendly to produce or especially dispose of, even when recycled (I think). But ontop of all this (guess it's generalized for all new vehicles).. the sheer amount of plastic in them... what happens when all that needs to be recycled? Can't be as easy as compacting it into a cube and melting it down. It's surprising the percentage of plastic that literally can't be recycled one bit, simply chopped up into small pieces and used as aggregate/filler in stuff.

And don't even get me started on the "OMG hydrogen so clean only H2O comes out of the tailpipe"... yea where does the hydrogen come from? And even "clean coal" is still so dirty, only marginally less environmentally-friendly than coal production of previous, as far as I'm aware.

I'm a big proponent of clean diesel/bio diesel/bio diesel & electric hybrid/straight-up electric... but it's down-right depressing that there are those out there that actually have diesel tunes with the direct intent of creating the largest, blackest exhaust cloud they can on loaded acceleration... makes me embarrassed and I don't even own a diesel although I wish I did.

      Sorry end of rant :/

What about the Prius and its allegedly grim environmental impact? The cause of the controversy seems to be a report called "Dust to Dust" by Oregon-based CNW Marketing Research. The report claims a Prius has a higher lifetime energy cost than a Hummer, an assertion cited by George Will in 2007 in his syndicated newspaper column. But the report is ludicrous. It evidently was self-published, lists no authors, quotes no technical literature, never explains its methodology, and contains numerous unsupported and often bizarre assertions. (Sample: a Prius will have a life span of only 109,000 miles whereas an H1 will last for 379,000 miles, apparently the basis for the contention that the Hummer’s per-mile costs are lower.) Only a fool or a commentator with an ax to grind would take such nonsense seriously.
So I don't think you should believe everything you hear...

Lot of this thread seems to be some type of axe grinding with Hybrid vehicles rather than just the simple unbelievable rudeness of the woman involved. I'd contend that she would be a rude person no matter what kind of car she drove. Not like I haven't seen plenty of very rude people in just about every type of vehicle including other large pick up trucks...

I have to agree with Ed. A lot of people bring up the whole "A Hummer is better for the environment than a Prius", but it's not true.

Now I hate Prius' because: they're ugly, they're not that nice, they're over priced, they're slow, they only get marginally better mileage than other new compact cars (many now get over 40mpg and cost a lot less), and they handle like crap. Those are good reasons to not like them.

I do worry about the batteries not lasting as long as I'd expect (especially given their cost). It makes me think about how every laptop battery I see has it's lifespan shrink over time. I'm not so worried about the mileage as much as in 10 years is that battery going to hold a charge worth a damn. Maybe... maybe not.

Okay, we all know shes dumb.

And sources...there are so many for both sides because its such a huge debate. You will likely find that any article written is completely biased to the author. This statement may invalidate my points but I'll rant anyway.

Saying the prius is better than a hummer is just wrong! I have been looking for an H1 for a while now (probably making a purchase soon) and spoke with owners and a diesel truck that gets 12-13 mpg just isn't that bad. There are some 11,000 Hummer H1's made in their production run ('92-'06) and there have been more than a million priuses sold since 2000.

The prius is also assembled from materials from roughly 5+ countries all over the world...that requires a lot of shipping. By the time you receive your fancy new prius I am positive it has been part of a group that has done more damage to the world than a production years worth of H1's and have been driving for 10+ years.

Mileage isn't everything, its almost nothing. 37 mpg is pretty terrible in comparison to what others our doing. Its our government stopping it, look at the Volkswagon Polo Bleu...a 3 cylinder diesel that gets 70+ mpg. Vehicles as such are restricted from the U.S. for many reasons though.

The prius is just an excuse for people to try and prove "they're doing their part to save the world." It gives them a warm fuzzy feeling inside and is a step to put them up on their high horse.

I just like to enjoy what I drive...If the combined mileage of my 3 vehicles is less than 25 I will just laugh, and at least I'll enjoy driving. I definitely would not really hold back against someone like this in the video...ignorance goes both ways. I spend a lot of time researching things I don't like (mainly Macintosh and going green [for reasons other than saving money -- seems to mostly be a "look at me! I'm doing good!" status thing]), you have to know your enemy to beat them.

Never really cared much until I started looking at Hummers so seriously and just finding facts that they aren't terrible.

I saw that on one of the diesel truck sites I'm on.
I'd have smoked her, handed her fat, Rosie O'Donnell a$$ another beignet (ben-yay), and told her to take a hike.

I'm surprised that she didn't get pimp slapped by momma when she kept cursing in front of the kid.

I have seen this on a diesel site I'm on as well, I can't believe this couple kept there cool. I doubt I could have, just depends on the situation I suppose. I try to keep my cool but I can only take so much crap.
