Cheap oil filter next to header = bad Cheap learning Lesson.
STP oil filter next to header after 1 day. This also happened last year on the Power Tour when I put on a Deutch filter.
Now if I run a Fram filter I never have this problem. Its a crack.

I think I would look into a remote oil filter kit. Just imagine what the heat is doing to your oil, and the filter medium. Or if thats a SBC filter you can run the short filter instead. That may solve your problem. Also I dont recommend fram filters. Open up a used one and look at the cardboard endcaps and you will likely never use one again. I use delco filters on things I care about.

I agree with Cory, from what I've ready lately, and various tests, Fram filters are not what they're cracked up to be. I'd go with a K&N or Mobil 1 filter.

Fram filters are junk....I wouldn't put one on a lawnmower. Very little filter media, paper pressure releif, and very thin case thickness. GM and DCX both have TSB's relating to the use of Fram brand filters causing engine noises cold and high RPM.
Napa gold line, Wix, K&N or Mobil 1 are all decent filters.

anything but a FRAM. i like ac delco and motorcraft.

I grew up liking the orange can, but was swayed away a few years back. If you do a bit of research, you'll see that Purolator and NAPA have good filters (more filter media, and a silicone bypass valve). I tried the M1 filter on my 98 SS, but it didn't seem to make a difference (I test all my oils at a friend's oil lab). The Purolators seemed to keep as much crap out as the M1 did.
I know somebody has the link to that oil filter test...

You can put a short type filter on it.

The AC Delco filter that I used on the power tour last year that cracked wide open spraying oil all over the place. It just seems that the Fram filter is the only one that held the heat but I will keep experimenting. Mabey a heat shield or short filter as mentioned.
