      New Guy from Detroit

      Hi all -

Just wanted to say hi to all and thanks to all for all of the great information on this site. I've been lurking for a while now and decided I'm long overdue to join.

I've been working on a 1970 Pontiac Formula PT project for about a year now. A full Global West Suspension with Baer brakes has been ordered with 18" Budnik Hammers planned for this year. Hopefully, next year, that hole in my wallet will be filled long enough to have funds for a TKO 600 and a rebuilt 455 with FI and a Vortech.

I've always like the before vs after pictures that some have had so:

I usually stay on the 4 or 5 mile outskirts where all the hardcore action is between Pontiac, Berkley, Birmingham all in that area. If you get closer to the center of the woodward action towards detroit then its just a big crappy traffic jam. If you stay on the outskirts you can drive all day long. I dont stay in 1 place for long so if your looking for me, look and listen for my primer car on the road. :3gears:

From Detroit? or Metro Detroit? We are building a small group of people from this Metro Detroit area.

Watch out for Trapin. He needs pics, which you started out on the right foot with him. Posting pics. LOL.

We need some more Pontiac guys in here. Do you have a motor build up in mind? E Heads? I found a guy who is making round port and d-port tri-y headers for the 2nd gen Birds.

      Thanks everybody.

I'm specifically from Madison Heights. I've seen your car at Motor City Steel. Looks great. How has the build been going? I'm going to have them work on my suspension since welding is required. Some previous owner had put the wrong rear leaf springs in and instead of getting the right ones, cut the passenger side subframe at the front perch and tack welded a 1/8" plate to bolt the front of the perch up. He also made his own rear shackles out of 1/4" flat stock. Yikes!!! Some people really should have their tools taken away from them.

      Wick -
I figure I'm about a year away from rebuilding the engine. I have a '74 455 Pontiac engine with 87 cc E-heads to rebuild hopefully with the Vortech kit that has been rumored to come out at the end of the month. Are you refering to the Tri - Y's that are talked about on the PY forums? If so, I really like the clearance that those provide but I'm concerned about choking the exhaust flow especially with the supercharger. Do you know of another source?

I'm near Coldwater, MI, about 2 hrs west of ya. I go to Woodward every year also (except didn't make it last year, too much to drink the night before). Haven't met up with any of the crew on here over there though, just found this site this year. I plan on trying to meet up with a few of you next month though... wow next month! It's here already!!
