      ride tech e3 problem

I have a 56 that i installed a e3 airpod system on and it has worked great all summer....But i have not started the car in a month so the battery is dead...hooked up cables and the car starts but i see that the control panel for the airride is not on...Checked the fuses on the tank and the middle 15 amp fuse is blown the other 15 and two 30s are good. compressor comes on but still no display iam getting all the power and the switched 12v from the ignition but no display ... I checked the display cable both on the ecm and both ports on the display...The display/control has no function at all. I have called ridetech but the are closed for the weekend so hopefully some one here has a idea...Have they had issues with the displays? You can't really bypass the display so untill i find out whats wrong this thing is dead in the water...Any help or ideas would be great thanks Bret

As a last resort you can always use a jumper wire to provide the valves +12v to inflate the vehicle.

Did you replace the 15A fuse? One is for +12v constant, the other is for +12V switched ignition. It will not work until you replace the fuse.

You may have to send it in. There is a slight chance that the battery charger fried the +5V circuit on the e3 main ECU. The +5V supplies power to all the sensors as well as the display. (you can check this by probing any of the red wires at a sensor with a volt meter and see if you have +5V).
I've seen a couple where a battery charger killed them. I have replicated this on the test bench, but it takes +22V for 30 seconds to kill one (and no automotive charging system should ever get this high! +18V is typically all an alternator can put out). That being said I have seen "inexpensive" chargers that spike voltage; typically not long enough to get around the suppressors built into the e3, but it could happen.

If you find there is no power at the sensors you can call us on Monday for a return number. We'll evaluate the unit and replace it with a new one if this is the case.
