      IRS in classic mustang

Hello boys. I'm the new guy. I have a 67 mustang fastback with a blown 351. I have the TCP coil over up front and looking to do the rear now. I saw heidts new PRO-G IRS and loved it. It is a bit costly but comes with everything you need. Is it worth it? It's just a Sunday get out and drive car. I'm looking at TCP, TCI 3-link, RRS 3-link, etc. WIth everything priced out, axles, brakes, housing, center section, sub frame connectors your at 5-6 grand easy with any of those kits. So for 7 you get IRS, and capable of handling up to 800hp. What would you do? Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

If it is really just a "Sunday get out and drive car" then I would keep $7000 in the bank and do nothing.

Agreed! you can make leaf springs handle great. Buy some good shocks and call it a sunday cruiser. What rear end do you currently have?

Well I'm building a 9" now, I have the housing and pumpkin with 3.89 posi. I want to do something a little more trick in the back. I had done the entire rear over already with new leafs and shocks, and now I want a coil over setup.

If you are wanting to keep your 9" you could do a Air Bar from ridetech and do a Coilover setup in it. This will give you a great ride and is a bolt in kit. The only thing is you will have to weld tabs on the top of the rear end for the tabs to attach the upper bars too. Check it out at http://www.ridetech.com/store/suspen...ar-system.html
      Hope this helps some.

      Hi,
I put that Pro G IRS in my 67 Camaro. Went in like a dream. I received the same level of enthusiasm you are getting, when I asked around about it. Not sure why. But so far I am satisfied with it.

so much of this hobby is driven by 'wants' more than 'needs'; you don't 'need' a blown 351 either but you wanted it. nothing wrong w/ that.
get the IRS if you want and then watch everyone laying down under your car to look at it

      trick? ok.

35 spline currie full floater with an arb in it with gun drilled williams shafts.

have a piece of high temp, high strength lexan molded and cut out the rear facing metal and replace it with clear.

Run any number of 3 or 4 link suspension setups with a splined nascar style sway and get arms that make it adjustable.

run coils or coilovers or bags, whatever your pleasure.

run these as your bracket gussets for all of the haters ( i'm using them on some fab work that i'm doing on my car now)

      now that would be trick.
