      RIP
From all accounts he was a great guy and he sadly leaves behind a wife and an infant son.

My bro and I were talking about how it is never a good sign when the sanction suddenly calls a drivers only meeting and doesn't say anything about what it is for.

Wow. That was a horrible crash. I never follow indycar so I have never heard of the guy but it is very sad to ever hear about a race driver being killed in any series. RIP Mr. Wheldon

He was a very talented driver and well liked in the Indycar circuit. Track doctors said it "was an unsurvivable crash." Condolences to his racing and personal family.

He was one of the better drivers out there. I watched it here in my hotel room across town and it was absolutely horrific. Danica Patrick compared it to what you see in Hollywood movies as they like to make things look much worse than what really happens. She said this looked a lot like that. My respects and condolences to his family who were all at the track and by his side at the hospital. My prayers go out to them and to the other guys that are still in the hospital after the crash.

I am so torn up about this , Dan Weldon was a good guy .
It always saddens me to see drivers lose their lives in a motorports event.
They are doing something on a level that most of us only dream of .
They have reached the pinnacle of skill and achievement .
