      Mopar 360

I need to find a Chrysler 360 small block. I have heard that through the mopar years that the whole design of the engine has changed and what materials have changed. I want to know what year, and model is the strongest block through the mopar years.

The early 360 were made with higher nickel content and had thicker main bearing and journal webbing. They essentially had all the strengthening features of 340's and were cast with 340 water jackets in those early days. Bore spacing was better as a result.
Look for blocks made before 1974.

I have a 71 block holding in 650 hp. I do have a main cap girdle which requires machining. Get a girdle from Hughes Engines. Hughes can also give you more particulars about the block but any 71 - 74 D100 truck equipped w/ a 360 should work.

Thought the 74 Cranks were shotpeened or something. They never had forged cranks though but I think you can still get cast 4.00" stroker cranks for $400.
