      T56 Install - Engine vibration

I have a shop here that is installing my T56 magnum elite kit from Hurst Drivelines. He has everything installed but they started it up to test and he said the engine has a vibration. He said when he puts the clutch in that it stops.

      Suggestions???

The engine is the 350 HO engine from GM - 330 hp/380 tq (previous owner said it was installed about 3 yrs ago). I upgraded and got the McLeod RST clutch kit with the tranny kit.

They took it all out and reinstalled and still getting the vibration. He said they put on the flywheel (weighted) and it has a slight vibration. Then they put on the clutch and it gets worse... then even worse when the tranny was installed. I just dont get it... Jim has said that it is the correct flywheel for my application.

He is going to try and call Jim at Hurst today and see if he can get another flywheel/clutch to see if that may work. I know he had talked to Jim previously and said nothing like this has happened before. Im stumped! My car has been in the shop for this install for almost 2 months... ready to just enjoy the thing!!!

If the vibration stops when the clutch is disengaged, I would check the pilot bearing.

Ok, just flywheel and clutch then vibration?

I have seen clutches be way out of balance before. I would take your old flywheel along with the new components to a machine shop to have the balanced. The machine shop should easily check the old flywheel and balance the new components to the old spec.

If you don't have a transmission in and a vibration then it is not likely the pilot bushing.
