      Under Hood Insulation / Deadener?

I want to get everyone's take on this... Is underhood insulation just a means to trap heat in there? I wouldn't mind using something to keep the noise level contained, but I don't want to put something there that's going to trap the heat... ??

Well if you think about it, unless your hood has some sort of venting, not much heat will released through a closed hood. You may get some slight radiant heat loss, but when you consider the primary source of cooling comes from air flowing through the radiator, and then out the bottom of the engine compartment, engine temperatures will have almost no difference with a layer of insulation than it does without.
