      elongating a spoiler?

So I've been after a lip spoiler for my car for awhile, but no one makes one(anymore).

Anyways, my buddy gave me a lip spoiler from a bmw e30 to try out. It appears to have the look i'm going for, but its about 6-8" too short and i need to remove a molded scoop that allowed space for the round bmw emblem.

Is possible to elongate this spoiler? If so, how would i go about doing this? I think its made of Urethane.

Seem to remember reading about people basically plastic welding to repair cracks in urethane. I would think if you can find a similar spoiler you could section it and assemble the size you want.

I would start at your local body shop and ask how they would suggest going about a repair of a split, prep, materials, and process and go from there.

      Good luck

I've seen some tuner guys chemically "weld" abs with a slurry of MEK (methyl Ethyl ketone) and abs shavings. if you get it right you can get some pretty slick results with that, but Im not sure that you could adapt the same thing to urethane

Use the beemer spoiler as a base. Design and build what you need out of foamcore, fiberglas and bondo. Then pull a mold off the master and make the "real" spoiler out of glass or carbon fiber. It's a lot of money and hard work but that's where you are when you are building one-off stuff... Believe me...

If you can post a pic of the spoiler that would be great. Some good points were made already about making your own or modifying the one you have in different ways. I have some experience with fiberglass, making new parts and re shaping old ones. I haven't done much with ABS, But, with fiberglass of all consistencies.
